Look closely at the photo and hopefully you can see not only the main reflection of the sun in the sea, but also the smaller reflections, some in large groupings, some in small clusters and others in what look like individual pin pricks of light. The further away from the main stream the smaller the light, but the sparkle is still there.
In life don’t we find that sometimes we are in the main stream, plenty going on around us, we are in tune with others, or as a large group we are all ‘singing from the same sheet’. At other times we are in smaller groups, those who are close to us and supporting each other. Then we probably find ourselves at times feeling like we are the only ones sparkling in a large dark area, trying to be that ray of sunshine for those we know who are facing difficulties. We may even find ourselves in the dark searching and hoping for a sparkle to find us.
When I was a child growing up in church one song I was taught was ‘This little light of mine’. It talks about how we were going to let our light shine over different areas of our life. I have certainly met people that ‘sparkle’. My hope is that we all would wish to be the sparkle for someone, even many people. But if we find ourselves feeling we have no sparkle to give, that someone will get alongside and share their sparkle with you.
