Sunshine and clouds

Lying on the beach on a hot summer blue sky day. Wonderful. Then a cloud came along and the question was asked ‘why has the sun gone behind a cloud?’ I didn’t know how to answer because I would only be accused of being my usual pedantic self if I pointed out that in fact the sun hasn’t moved, therefore the sun didn’t go behind a cloud. It was the cloud that covered the sun. If you’re a pedant I think you’ll know where I’m coming from. There’s a few common phrases in English that do not accurately describe what is happening. I mentioned the moon falling to set in my previous blog. But back to the sun behind a cloud. Although we couldn’t see the sun, only for a few moments I should add, we didn’t panic, we knew it was there and it would ‘come out’ (another inaccurate phrase) again very soon, which I’m glad to say it did.
As we go through life there are times when we feel darkness has come over us, the warmth and light of the sun are no longer there. Sadly for so many this can lead to depression and mental illness believing that we will remain in that situation for ever, with no way out. I have known Christians who end up in this situation and it must be an awful place to be. However, what we are told is that whilst we are currently in darkness it is only temporary and one day the light of Christ will once again shine on us, the clouds rolled back to reveal His light and warmth back in our lives.
If this is you, hang in there the light is coming, the clouds are moving on.
