My view from the balcony this morning saw people coming past who were taking part in the Heredades 6k run. Some saw it as a fun run (an oxymoron if ever there was one), some quite obviously taking it very seriously. Unlike the marathons we see across the world in our big cities, there were no costumes to admire. So where’s the fun in that?
The group passed the balcony twice, large bunch the first time but very spread out the second time 3k later. First group looked fresh and composed, the second hot and some in discomfort in the climbing temperature.
In our walk with Christ I wonder how many of us found it easy to begin with but a little harder as we progressed. I know I did and still do. Watching the run it was clear that some runners were helping others who were struggling for whatever reason. So it should be in our lives. None of us got to where we are now without the help and encouragement of others. And so we should become the help and encouragement to others now.
When you stumble ask for help, when someone else stumbles offer help, to those with faith and those without alike. Then surely we will ourselves encounter the help of the Spirit.
