To say that the last few months have been Turmoil in family life is possibly not doing justice. However we are now on sabbatical and recuperating.

My reading this morning was another period of time when the Israelites relationship with God was in turmoil. Up steps Elijah. The only prophet of God left facing 450 prophets of Baal. Read the account in 1 Kings 18:21-39.

God proves yet again that trust and faith in Him are what matters. The people turn back to Him. This is not to say that we won’t necessarily see turmoil again, but it gives hope that God is always there if we simply ask.

I pray that the turmoil within the Catholic Church as the process for a new Pope begins, the turmoil in the Anglican Communion as the process to appoint a New Archbishop of Canterbury continues, the turmoil in world markets, the turmoil in war torn places and the turmoil in each of our lives when it occurs may be met with the Grace of God when we approach Him.
